THE APHRODITE INHERITANCE: LOCATIONS

One of the things I enjoy most about running the website is the enthusiastic support I get from a lot of visitors. It is interesting the way folk 'adopt' particular shows and almost make them their own.

As many of you will know, Phil Clarke, a frequent visitor to Cyprus, has been doggedly tracking down the locations used in The Aphrodite inheritance. One location in particular - the abandoned village where David Collier is presented with the suitcase full of cash by Helene - has eluded him for years.

Website visitor Chris Williams took up the search and after four months of dedicated research, many emails, contacts, and false leads, Chris finally identified it as the village of old Korfi which was abandoned in 1969. Fantastic!

On his most recent trip Phil visited the location which, apart from the church, he says is in an even sorrier state than it was in 1979. I have added Chris's screenshots and Phil's photos to the locations page in The Aphrodite Inheritance section of the website.

A big thank you to both gentlemen.

THE DARK SIDE OF THE SUN FEATURE

GOLDZONE - MORE CALLAN STORIES UNCOVERED

ACTOR TREVOR BAXTER

Added a short feature from 'The Stage' in February 1983 marking the start of location filming of Michael Bird's "modern day thriller with a supernatural theme" - The Dark Side of the Sun - to the feature articles page in the Dark Side of the Sun section of the website.

Following the success of the first anthology of James Mitchell's Callan short stories, Ostara has published more 'missing files' in Callan Uncovered 2, featuring 15 short stories not seen for over 40 years.

In addition to the newly uncovered stories, two James Mitchell scripts from 'lost' black-and-white episodes have been reconstructed from technical 'camera' scripts ('shooting scripts') used during recordings at ABC TV's Teddington Lock Studios. Goodness Burns Too Bright was broadcast as Episode 4 of Season 1 of Callan on 29th July 1967 and Blackmailers Should Be Discouraged was Episode 8 of Season 2, broadcast on 26th February 1969.

It was lovely to hear from actor Trevor Baxter in response to the last newsletter. Trevor, who appeared in both The Dark Side of the Sun and Maelstrom, tells me he is still working: recording a series called "JAGO and LITEFOOT" for Big Finish Productions. It is a spin off from the Dr. Who episode "The Talons of Weng Chiang" in which Trevor played Professor Litefoot way back in 1977.

Trevor says they are in the process of recording Series 11.
