Who Pays the Ferryman?

Production and Filming
In October 2020 I received an interesting email from website visitor Carole who says:

"We met Michael in Aghios Nikolaos in 1975 at The Hermes Hotel (which was still being finished at the time). My Dad, David, met Michael at the bar and we became good friends during our stay. Having seen The Lotus Eaters on TV that was why we had chosen to go to Crete for holiday. So meeting him was a very special treat.

I was 11 at the time and became hooked on archaeology as a result of that holiday and our trips to Knossos and Malia. Michael took us out by car to Iraklion where he had meetings to find locations for Who pays the Ferryman?.

He also took us to some of the film locations for The Lotus Eaters including Malia. He had some passes that gave us access to museums and was a very generous guide and host.

He did talk to my mum who was a registered office nurse about being a consultant, maybe with Casualty? But we don't remember what the connection with Michael was. Maybe you can help?

Anyway we have very fond memories of our time with Michael and loved his work. He has been part of our family stories ever since then."

Having watched Who pays the Ferryman? many, many times regular website visitor Chris Williams noted some mistakes that were missed in the original filming and subsequent editing, some of which he says are quite glaring. Thanks to Chris for taking the time to send them for us all to enjoy and be amazed by.
In the episode 'Some talk of Alexander' at about 30 minutes, Captain Krasakis arrives at Babis's house in Elounda to talk to Alan Haldane. As they walk from the door to the living area the cameraman who filmed the shots at the front door is slow to move back as the shot widens and he is caught in the top right hand corner of the shot hastily retreating, but it's too late. You can clearly see the camera.

In the episode 'Receive the light' at about 34 minutes, the race is well underway, but the cameraman on board with Xenophon Hasapis can be seen trying to conceal himself in the cabin door several times so as not to be in the wider shots.

In the episode 'The Well' at about 32 minutes, Captain Krasakis visits Leandros to confront him about the whereabouts of Bernard Kingsley. As Leandros goes to the front door, Betty Arvaniti can be seen sitting on the stairs, her feet clearly visible, waiting for her cue to come down after Krasakis is invited in.
Chris says that there are also several scenes where the boom microphone man either casts a shadow over someones face with it, or at times, drops the microphone itself into shot. See if you can spot them.
